Message from Executive Director

Boys and Girls Club of Manitowoc County Executive Director, Bill Bertsche

I’m very excited to be working in my role as the first Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club of Manitowoc County. I was born and raised in Manitowoc and spent the last 20 years serving as Principal at Monroe Elementary School for the Manitowoc Public School District.  I have worked 31 years in public education and am very familiar with the many needs that exist for youth today.  I have always been active in promoting and developing after school and summer opportunities for youth as I feel it is a great difference maker.

A Boys and Girls Club in our community would provide a safe, supportive, and positive environment for kids every night of the week. It would allow youth opportunities to engage in proven Boys and Gils Club programming, get much needed academic support, and help tackle food insecurity by providing meals to those who need them.  Most importantly, the quality, caring relationships built with the adults who provide these services can be life changing.  We are currently one of the largest communities in Wisconsin without a Club. I hope you will help me work to change that.

On a personal note, during my free time I enjoy most sports, coaching basketball, boating, and working on house projects.  I’m an all-around Wisconsin sports fan!  Go Packers, Brewers, Bucks, and Badgers!! I enjoy spending most of my time with my wife Patti and visiting my grown children Ryan, Megan, and Brett.

I’m honored to be given the opportunity to work with a great Board and many volunteers in the community who are working hard to make a Boys and Girls Club in our community a reality.  With help from community partners and supporters I’m excited to see the impact a Club could make with the children and families of our community.
